FAI, the world air sports federation founded in 1905. It is a non-governmental and non-profit making international organization with the basic aim of furthering aeronautical and astronautical activities worldwide.

Indonesia Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association is PLGI (Persatuan Olahraga Dirgantara Layang Gantung Indonesia). PLGI is a division of FASI (Indonesia Air Sport Federation). FASI is a member of FAI.

The British Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association oversees pilot and instructor training standards, provides, technical support such as airworthiness standards, runs coaching courses for pilots and a host of other services, providing the infrastructure within which UK hang gliding and paragliding thrive.

The HGFA, The Hang Gliding Federation of Australia is a sporting body that administers Paragliding, Weightshift Microlights and Hang Gliding under the regulations laid down by the Civil Air Safety Authority.
